The Therapeutic Specialist will be responsible for establishing a territory of high prescribing HIV treaters in the GMA and other urban Quebec cities. There could also be responsibility for both Nova Scotia and Newfoundland but has yet to be finalized.

The Role:
  • Responsible for achieving coverage and frequency targets and consistently achieving sales targets in assigned territory.
  • Represents Gilead's products and services to a defined customer base within a specific geographic area.
  • Utilizes an in-depth level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products to healthcare professionals.
  • Prepares business plan for own territory, assigns targets and communicates required actions to achieve goals.
  • May assist others with their individual plans and is productive at developing in-depth market interpretation of sales analysis data. Initiates systems to monitor sales progress and action plans.
  • Manages territory budgets for customer contacts, speaker events and other miscellaneous external expenditures.
  • May work in collaboration with outside partner companies to co-promote products or services.
  • May represent company at professional events and promote company products at such events.
  • Works cooperatively with Medical Science Liaisons, Marketing and other internal Gilead team members on various cross-functional projects related to specific accounts or physicians.
  • Forms, builds and extends professional business relationships with key customers or accounts and effectively networks for product with thought leaders.
  • Organizes sales initiatives within the market as directed and follows up on these to ensure their successful completion.
  • May take the lead on projects within team e.g. liaison role with marketing, meetings coordinator etc. and may participate in the development and mentoring of less experienced team members.
  • Completes necessary administrative tasks in a timely manner e.g. updating customer database, expenses etc.
  • Responsible for achieving the competency levels required in the role.
  • Compliance with all regulatory agencies, state, and federal law is required.
  • Serves as technical expert of assigned product, therapeutic classes, and patient needs in order to educate/influence key physicians.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Pharmaceutical industry selling experience is essential and relevant therapeutic knowledge is required.
  • Requires a BA or BS degree and minimum of 6 - 8 years of relevant selling experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry with at least 4 years in specialty sales or the appropriate therapeutic area.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Therapeutic Specialist is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with a high level of autonomy and independence.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and competitor's resources and practices is required.
  • Must be able to proactively identify issues, opportunities, and resolutions and is able to present and effectively communicate issues and recommendations to marketing and sales management

    Specialiste, Produits therapeutiques (Quebec)

    Le specialiste, Produits therapeutiques sera responsable de l'etablissement d'un territoire comptant de grands prescripteurs qui traitent des patients infectes par le VIH dans la region metropolitaine de Montreal et d'autres agglomerations urbaines du Quebec. Il pourrait aussi tre responsable de la Nouvelle-cosse et de Terre-Neuve, mais cet aspect reste determiner.

    • Assumer la responsabilite de l'atteinte des objectifs sur le plan de la couverture et de la frequence et d'une realisation constante des objectifs de vente dans le territoire attribue.
    • Representer les produits et services de Gilead auprs d'une clientle definie dans une region geographique donnee.
    • Utiliser une connaissance approfondie des produits et des maladies pour promouvoir l'utilisation appropriee des produits Gilead auprs des professionnels de la sante.
    • Preparer un plan d'affaires pour son propre territoire, fixer des cibles et communiquer les mesures requises pour atteindre ces dernires.
    • Aider eventuellement les autres elaborer leurs plans individuels et developper une interpretation approfondie des donnees d'analyse des ventes. Mettre en place des systmes de suivi de la progression des ventes et des plans d'action.
    • Gerer les budgets du territoire pour les contacts avec les clients, les conferences et d'autres depenses externes diverses.
    • Travailler eventuellement en collaboration avec des entreprises partenaires externes pour co-promouvoir des produits ou des services.
    • Representer eventuellement l'entreprise lors d'evenements professionnels et promouvoir les produits de l'entreprise lors de tels evenements.
    • Travailler en collaboration avec les agents de liaison medicale, le Marketing et d'autres membres de l'equipe interne Gilead divers projets interfonctionnels lies des comptes ou des medecins particuliers.
    • tablir, developper et elargir des relations professionnelles avec des clients ou des comptes cles et etablir efficacement des reseaux avec des leaders d'opinion pour promouvoir les produits.
    • Organiser des initiatives de vente sur le marche selon les directives et faire le suivi de ces initiatives pour assurer leur reussite.
    • Diriger eventuellement des projets au sein de l'equipe (p. ex., jouer un rle de liaison avec des responsables du marketing, le coordonnateur des reunions, etc.) et eventuellement participer au perfectionnement de membres de l'equipe moins experimentes et leur servir de mentor.
    • Accomplir les tches administratives necessaires en temps opportun, p. ex., mise jour de la base de donnees des clients, rapports de depenses.
    • Voir atteindre les niveaux de competence requis pour le poste.
    • Respecter l'ensemble des dispositions reglementaires et legislatives mises en place par les organismes de reglementation, les provinces et le gouvernement federal.
    • Afficher une expertise technique quant aux produits attribues, les categories therapeutiques et les besoins des patients pour eduquer et influencer les medecins cles

    Connaissances, experiences et competences
    • Experience de la vente dans le secteur pharmaceutique essentielle et connaissances therapeutiques pertinentes requises.
    • Baccalaureat s arts ou baccalaureat s sciences et au moins six huit ans d'experience pertinente de vente dans le secteur pharmaceutique ou le secteur de la sante, dont au moins quatre ans dans les ventes specialisees ou dans le domaine therapeutique approprie.
    • Au moins deux ans comme specialiste, Produits therapeutiques, un atout.
    • Motivation et capacite de travailler avec un haut niveau d'autonomie et d'independance.
    • Connaissance requise des tendances du secteur et des ressources et pratiques des concurrents.
    • Attitude proactive permettant de cerner les enjeux, trouver des solutions et reperer les occasions et capacite de presenter et de communiquer efficacement les enjeux et des recommandations la direction du marketing et des ventes.
