Job Details
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse opportunity in Critical Care & Respiratory Care Department. Ideal candidate will be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with at least two years of patient care or healthcare experience. Prefer candidates with ICU, inpatient care/critical care experience; oncology ICU experience is a plus.
Shift: 5:00am - 7:00pm (3 days a week) with rotating weekends and holidays
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Patient Care: Critical Care & Respiratory Care APPs in the Intensive Care Unit are responsible for: 1) Conducting comprehensive patient history and physicals; 2) Developing a treatment plan; 3) Evaluating patient outcomes in coordination with attending physicians; 4) Collaborating with attending physicians; 5) Facilitating family conferences in collaboration with multidisciplinary team; 6) Dictating and/or document patient care notes within 24 hours; and 7) Submitting appropriate charges within 24 hours.
2. Procedures: Critical Care & Respiratory Care APPs in the Intensive Care Unit are responsible for: 1) Actively participating in Class III procedure and core privileges; 2) Completing procedure notes within 24 hours; 3) Submitting appropriate charges within 24 hours; and 4) Keeping a weekly log of all procedures performed and/or use electronic health record.
3. Others duties assigned: Critical Care & Respiratory Care APPs in the Intensive Care Unit are responsible for: 1) Assisting attendings with completing M&M slips; 2) Presenting patients at M&M Conference; 3) Collaborating with triage attendings during triage process; and 4) Turning in the completed slips to the department's Patient Safety Quality Officer each week.
EDUCATION
Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
EXPERIENCE
Required: None
Preferred: A minimum of three years patient care or healthcare experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in the ICU. A least one-year oncology ICU experience is a plus.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
All of the following: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) If working in the following departments: Pediatric - Patient Care (113100).
MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
