The Office of Cancer Clinical Proteomics Research (OCCPR) of the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is looking for someone to serve as Program Officer. OCCPR supports the development, advancement and application of proteomics and proteogenomics research to further our understanding of cancer, develop novel cancer diagnostics and therapies, and provide proteogeomics data and resources to the scientific community in the areas of Biospecimen Procurement/Biospecimen Management and Proteomics Data Science/Data Management.

We are looking for a motivated scientist looking to join a dynamic team that is at the forefront of cancer research where responsibilities include management and oversight of contracts that support biospecimen procurement activities for OCCPR’s Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC), working closely with CPTAC and data management activities for OCCPR’s Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC), International Cancer Proteogenome Consortium (ICPC), and the Applied Proteogenomics Organizational Learning and Outcomes (APOLLO) network, as well as coordination with extramural investigators and collaborators, and overseeing OCCPR’s Proteomics Data Coordinating Center and NCI’s Proteomic Data Commons (in coordination with the NCI Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology) that have a significant reliance on mass spectrometry proteomics data generation, storage, transfer, analysis, visualization, and public dissemination. Expertise in database infrastructure and scientific data management is preferred. Expertise in proteomics/genomics science, cancer, cell and molecular biology is a plus.

A program officer is responsible for stimulating, planning, directing, and evaluating a portfolio of activities for research projects, research program and other grants/awards, cooperative agreements, and/or contracts in the assigned program area. Familiarity with NIH extramural funding as an applicant, reviewer, or scientific administrator is a plus, and outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential.
