Position Description, Required Credentials and Experience: The USC School of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a full-time, position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (depending on academic experience and accomplishment).  The candidate should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching, curriculum development and grant writing within the area of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical sciences. The candidate will be primarily engaged in the curriculum development and implementation of coursework related to the School of Pharmacy’s new undergraduate Bachelor of Science Major in “Biopharmaceutical Sciences”.

Applicants must have a strong background in pharmaceutical and/or biopharmaceutical sciences, possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field and have demonstrated educational expertise, including the ability in the use of varied instructional strategies and technologies that engage students, including cooperative, experimental, and practical learning methods. The candidate will work closely with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education at the School of Pharmacy to extend the educational growth in the new undergraduate major and other undergraduate programs offered to USC students with an interest in graduate programs in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. In addition, the candidate will support the development, analysis, and application of educational research proposals and implementation within the department, and its graduate programs of the School.

As a Teaching Track faculty member, the candidate will be expected to combine undergraduate teaching/mentoring to a total of at least 80% of USC activities. This will include undergraduate teaching, course development, and laboratory development and training, with excellence in these pursuits demonstrated and fulfilled toward consideration for promotion. Scholarly activities and university service are important additional contributions. This position does not lead to consideration for tenure.
