A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the antibody engineering core (AEP) at the Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. The core web site: https://ostr.ccr.cancer.gov/resources/antibody-engineering-program/

Single domain antibodies (also known as ‘nanobodies’) have the ability to reach buried sites, bind poorly immunogenic antigens, reveal protein structures, and have cross-species functional activities. Additionally, nanobodies are small and easily expressed in both bacteria and mammalian cells. These features make them attractive for incorporating into therapeutics such as CAR T cells, multispecific/multifunctional antibodies, ADCs and immunotoxins. Dr. Mitchell Ho’s laboratory at the NCI constructed large phage-displayed shark and camel nanobody libraries [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30627698/] . Using these unique single domain libraries, the antibody engineering core collaborates with intramural labs to identify nanobodies for solving important biological problems as well as treating cancer, viral infections and other human diseases.

Candidates should have received a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, structure biology or a related discipline. The ideal candidate should have research expertise in antibody engineering including phage display, directed evolution and computational analysis of antibody sequences or structures. Applicants should have at least one first-author research publication in antibody or protein engineering. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.  Experience in yeast display is a plus. Individuals with a passion for science and a capacity to work in a highly collaborative environment are encouraged to apply.

To apply, please send an e-mail with your CV, the names of three references, and a cover letter briefly describing your research experience and interests to the contact information below.
