The Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology, within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, invites applications for a full-time 12-month tenure track position in Neuroscience and Neurologic Disease at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Minimum qualifications include a PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline at the time employment begins. Post-doctoral experience is strongly encouraged. Expertise in genomics or related disciplines is desired. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a scholarly and externally funded research program in the area of his or her expertise, and to work collaboratively with other faculty to develop dynamic, self-sustaining programs at Auburn University.  Startup funding and lab space will be available. Other responsibilities will include team-teaching of Neuroscience/physiology (lectures and labs) to first year veterinary students and graduate students.

We are a multi-disciplinary department with existing research strengths for potential collaborations in areas of neuroscience, as well as reproductive, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases (www.vetmed.auburn.edu/academic-departments/dept-of-anatomy-physiology-pharmacology/).  Opportunities are abundant for collaboration with clinicians of the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital (www.auburnvetmed.com) and the Auburn University MRI Research Center (www.eng.auburn.edu/research/centers/mri/index.html). Other collaborative research platforms that include networks of scientists conducting both basic and applied research are the Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Research Program, the Canine Performance Sciences program in olfaction, neuroscience, genetics, and physical performance to advance canine technology, and the Auburn University Research Initiative in Cancer (AURIC). The CVM is also the home of the Scott-Ritchey Research Center (SRRC) that conducts interdisciplinary basic and translational research to improve the health of dogs and cats.  More can be found at (https://www.vetmed.auburn.edu/research/scott-ritchey-research-center/).
