Summary:

The primary purpose of the coverage determination (CD) research nurse for Lymphoma clinical trials is to review and confirm accuracy of the coverage determination, CTRC budgets, internal budgets/fees, cell therapy lab budgets for clinical trials, and work with regulatory personnel to coordinate making the budgets by providing clinical knowledge to the budget making process

Job specific competencies:

The clinical budget coordinator will utilize research nurse knowledge to include but not limited to medical, regulatory and finance to accurately coordinate the making and maintaining of a coverage determination worksheet as the single source of truth for the clinical trial.

Reviews initial and revision CDs/CTRC worksheets/budget and responds to multidisciplinary team in a timely manner. Review and answer any other CDs/CTRC budget items that requires a clinical team review or oversight.

Ensures accuracy of CD ensuring the clinical trial includes all coverage determination necessary to fulfil deliverables.

Collaborates with different team members to confirm protocol budget requirements such as clinical research finance, regulatory team, CTRC, cell therapy lab and other ancillary teams.

Understand Local Coverage Determination (LCD) and National Coverage Determination (NCD) guidelines.

Ability to understand and interpret protocol Schedule of Events (SOE), and Informed Consent Document (ICD).

Works with the PIs/research teams/management/regulatory/CRF to identify and develop improved methods of reviewing and confirming accuracy of CDs.

Understand the differences between routine care cost and research charges associated with a clinical trial.

Ability to read and interpret the CMS MCD (Medicare Coverage Database)

CMS NCD (National Coverage Determination) Search Engine

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required:

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

EXPERIENCE
Required:

One year of registered nursing experience.

Preferred:

Prior Research Nurse experience.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Required:

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred:

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
