Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Imaging and Substance Use Disorders

McLean Hospital

Belmont, MA

A NIDA-sponsored T32 Postdoctoral Research Position is available in a multidisciplinary, productive, and stimulating environment with excellent research training resources. The training generally focuses on brain imaging (EEG, MRI, MRS, near infrared spectroscopy), psychiatry, substance use disorders, and translational research. The McLean Imaging Center’s (https://www.mcleanmri.org) partnership with the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at MGH allows us to offer training in PET and combined MRI/PET imaging. Current resources include two Siemens 3T human magnets (TIM Trio and a Prisma), a Varian 4T human scanner and a Varian 9.4T small bore animal magnet.

The program is tailored to meet the individual fellow’s needs in order to position trainees for independent research careers. Based on need, fellows may receive training in a range of topics relevant to clinical and/or preclinical brain imaging and advanced imaging methods. After working with a preceptor, fellows will be given opportunities to work in a number of areas in order to advance their career development. Fellowships are available for 2-3 years. The successful candidate will be proposed for an academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Applicants should hold an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent degree in psychology, pharmacology, physics, neuroscience, or a related field. Under-represented minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply. Start date is negotiable and salary is commensurate with experience as established by NIH guidelines.

Address inquiries to the Director of the Program, Dr. Scott E. Lukas (Lukas@mclean.harvard.edu), and request an application from our T32 Administrative Assistant: Wendy Tartarini, M.A. BPRL/McLean Hospital Mail Stop 319 115 Mill St. Belmont, MA 02478 (617) 855-2767 E-mail: wtartarini@mclean.harvard.edu
