The Department of Biology/College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks candidates for two full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor (Teaching Faculty) positions in Introductory Biology. UAB is a Carnegie Level 1 research university and academic health center named the Top Young University in the U.S. in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Primary responsibility of the successful candidates will be to teach a range of introductory biology courses for biology majors and non-majors.  Teaching, non-tenure track positions provide substantial opportunities for professional growth and long-term contributions to education at UAB.  Please see the department website for more information: https://www.uab.edu/cas/biology

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related field, plus demonstrated experience in teaching and in course development. The successful candidates will be comfortable teaching high enrollment courses and have a track record of teaching excellence as well as a strong interest in innovative pedagogies including online instruction.

With over 22,500 students and 2,459 full-time faculty members, UAB ranks in the top 20 public universities for federal research funding and is the major teaching-research university in Alabama. Interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching is prominent, and the Department of Biology collaborates closely with multiple units across campus, including Chemistry.
