Endowed Faculty Position

Department of Pathology, University of Alabama at Birmingham

As part of an ongoing major strategic initiative to recruit exceptional researchers, the Department of Pathology is seeking a scientist having a substantial record of extramural funding.  This endowed position will be filled at the level of Professor or Associate Professor. Applicants currently at the level of Associate Professor that have demonstrated exceptional research success are encouraged to apply.  Applications in all areas of research will be considered. Current areas of research strength within the department include:

Cardiovascular Disease, Metabolic Disease, Bone Pathobiology,

Cancer, Immunology & Infectious Disease

In addition, the Department of Pathology is participating in an institutional initiative in faculty recruitment in Neurosciences.

Having over 80 full time faculty, the Department of Pathology has a major commitment to clinical care, research and education (https://www.uab.edu/medicine/pathology/).  Research within the department focuses on understanding the molecular basis underlying a wide range of diverse disease processes, identifying new therapeutic targets, and developing new treatments for patients. The Department of Pathology is ranked in the top 10 in NIH funding nationally among Departments of Pathology at public institutions. Research funding within the department currently exceeds $14M annually.
