Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of Dr. Terence Williams, the Research Associate II will perform a variety of routine and increasingly complex research experiments, including working with cell lines in tissue culture, performing cell line experiments, working with patient tumor and blood specimens; performing routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals, including the performance of surgical procedures or administration of drugs; executing planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques; collecting tissue and culture samples; compiling results of laboratory work and preparing reports; maintaining inventory and assemble lists; assisting in gathering, sorting and counting specimens or data for research activities or demonstrations; cleaning and maintaining glassware, & laboratory equipment instruments; performing routine clerical duties to ensure the laboratory is appropriately supplied; maintaining lab protocols.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Utilize laboratory equipment and established protocols, to perform a variety of research experiments. Record and validate results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Order laboratory reagents and supplies and maintain inventories and assemble lists.
  • Write standard operating procedures and reports.
  • Maintain records of work performed including results and methodology. Utilize records and calculate, graph and compile data.
  • Develop techniques and expertise in one or more areas relevant to laboratory research projects.
  • Ensure that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storage and disposal of materials.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience or Master's with 1 year of experience is required.
  • Experience with cell culture and animal experiments is desired.

  • Dr. Williams research is currently supported by multiple NIH R01s, American Cancer Society, Radiation Oncology Institute, Florida Biomedical Research Program, NCCN, and internal funds.
  • Research findings from Dr. Williams' research group have been published in Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer Research, Molec Cancer Therapeutics, Oncotarget, J Clin Invest, J Clin Oncology, J Thoracic Oncol, PNAS, Cancer, JAMA Surgery, IJROBP, R&O, J Biol Chem, Molec Biol Cell, Cell Cycle, and numerous other journals.
