The Center for Genetic Diseases at the Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.  New members of the Center will join a highly successful and collaborative group of investigators that applies diverse approaches to better understand and treat genetic diseases.

Applicants should have a demonstrated research and publication record in genetic diseases or genetic risks with a particular interest in, but not restricted to, respiratory conditions and cystic fibrosis. The successful candidate will be expected to direct an extramurally funded research program that complements the Center’s current strengths in the molecular basis of disease with an emphasis in disease mechanisms and/or drug discovery/screening. Preference will be given to candidates that are experienced in single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, ion channel physiology, cystic fibrosis genetic analysis, animal models or related areas.

Faculty in the Center of Genetic Diseases will have an academic appointment in the Discipline of Physiology and Biophysics or Cell Biology and Anatomy and will contribute to teaching in the medical and graduate programs, including mentoring of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and other trainees.  Start-up packages and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience.

The Center encourages applications from individuals that incorporate novel, cutting edge approaches to studying disease at the basic science, translational, or clinical levels. Applicants whose work integrates with current faculty research interests in the Center for Genetic Diseases is preferred.
