Applications are invited for post-doctoral research associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Kumuda C Das, in the department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas.

The area of investigation includes cardiovascular studies such as hypertension, ischemia-reperfusion injury and vascular biology. Novel transgenic mouse models are used to discover mechanisms of remote ischemic preconditioning and age-related hypertension.

The ideal candidate will have experience in small animal surgery, such as isolation of coronary artery and mesenteric arteries in mouse models; and should have experience in vascular reactivity (wire and pressure myography) studies and myocyte isolation from adult heart.

For this position experience in molecular biology skills such as real time PCR analysis, cloning, reporter assays, confocal microscopy and cellular transfection studies are desirable.

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding publication record and demonstrated skills in biochemistry and molecular biology. The post-doctoral associate is expected to work without supervision, analyze data, maintain accurate experimental record and write manuscripts for publication. The ability to independently work in a research project is a plus. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives based on project knowledge is a plus. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other research personnel in the lab and working in a team environment is expected.
