Baidu USA is one of the largest R&D institutions of Baidu and located in Sunnyvale, California, with a mission to make a complicated world simpler through science and technology. We are seeking talented and highly motivated researchers to build new research teams for both Biochemistry and Computational Biology studies.

The Biochemistry studies include (but not limited to) functional protein design, protein engineering, structural biology, and drug discovery. The researchers will work closely with our world-class computational biology team to develop biochemistry and structural biology experiments for designing new protein sequences of novel biological functions (e.g., enzyme activity, ligand binding, protein-drug interactions, and protein-protein interactions). While our general goal is to apply computational protein design for enhancing human health, special attentions will be paid to designing new proteins and peptides targeting pathways of various human diseases including cancer, obesity, and COVID-19. Candidates with wet-lab experience in protein design, protein engineering, protein purification and binding assay, protein structural biology (X-ray crystallography, NMR, Cryo-EM), and/or computational biology are encouraged to apply. Excellent interpersonal skill with motivation and ability to lead an independent biochemistry laboratory is essential.

The Computational Biology studies focus on structural bioinformatics and structure-based drug discovery, with specific projects including (but not limited to) protein folding, protein structure prediction, protein design, protein engineering, protein-protein interaction, protein-ligand docking, and drug screening. We are particularly interested in developing new computational methods to integrate state-of-the-art deep machine-learning techniques and traditional computational biology algorithms to solve critical biological and medical problems. Skills in computational coding and creativity in scientific method design are critical to the projects. Experience and expertise in deep neural-network learning will be an important plus.

A PhD degree on related research areas is required. If you are interested, please feel free to apply through our website: http://usa.baidu.com/careers/?gh_jid=2548682
