Position Summary:
We are seeking candidates for tenured or tenure-track positions at all ranks, who work on the molecular basis of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, ALS-FTD, Ataxia, Huntington's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke/vascular dementia, and other neurological and psychiatric disorders. Successful candidates for these positions are expected to have already established, or have the potential to establish, a nationally recognized, competitively funded research program and participate in graduate/medical student education and mentoring.  Successful candidates will be provided with dry and wet laboratory space at the Byrd Institute and be placed in a home department at the USF Morsani College of Medicine.  Based on qualifications, the home department may be Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology, Molecular Medicine, Pathology & Cell Biology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, or other relevant departments.  Successful candidates will be offered institutional salary support commensurate with experience and highly competitive start-up packages that promote success. 

The Byrd Institute is a modern, multi-use, interdisciplinary facility housing 3 floors of clinical space, 3 floors of laboratory space, and a dedicated vivarium floor.  Laboratory space is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and outstanding core facilities.

Responsibilities:

Research
Perform basic and translational research in the area of neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases. Apply for external grants. Publish in peer-review journals and present research at appropriate external scientific conferences.

Teaching
Provide didatic and benchside teaching of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Provide Departmental or college-wide seminars.

Administrative
Serve in governance, service, and community outreach tasks.

Other
Other responsibilities as required by the Department Chair.
