The recently established Translational Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix (UA COMP) is recruiting tenure-track/tenured faculty at the assistant, associate, and professor levels. Successful candidates are expected to have innovative translational research programs in cardiovascular science and medicine and a track record of support by extramural funding from agencies such as the NIH and AHA. Research in cardiac biology, including contractility, calcium handling, mechanisms of cell death, metabolism, transcriptional regulation and proteostasis, are preferred, as are heart failure, ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, hypertension and vascular biology. There are numerous opportunities to collaborate with key clinical and community partners in Phoenix, such as Banner University Medical Center and the Translational Genomics Institute (TGen), Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Phoenix VA Healthcare System, as well as partners in other areas of Arizona, including cardiovascular science and medicine Centers of Excellence in the Molecular Cardiovascular Research Program and the Sarver Heart Center, both at University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson (UA COMT).
The Translational Cardiovascular Research Center is located in the recently constructed Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building (BSPB) in the Phoenix Biomedical Campus, a major biosciences hub and premier provider of medical education and a major economic engine in Phoenix. Successful candidates will receive generous start-up funding and will be assigned state-of-the-art, open architecture laboratory and office space, as well as research core facilities and administrative support. New core facilities in the Center include a microscopy imaging core, small animal surgery, physiology and phenotyping core, featuring a Vevo 3100/LAZRX for echo and a Scinta MRI/PET system, as well as AdV and AAV design and production labs. In addition to these cores designed primarily for researchers in the Center, there are numerous additional cores in nearby research institutes constituting the PBC, as well as mouse genetics, proteomics, genomics and stem cell core facilities at nearby partner institutions and at UA COMT.
