I. Introduction

East China Jiaotong University(ECJTU), as a multi-disciplinary teaching-and-research-oriented institution in China, features transportation engineering with the focus on railway-related disciplines. Dually co-constructed by China Railway Corporation and Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government, the State Railway Administration and the local government, ECJTU has grown into a provincially key university, accredited as a participant to the “Central-western Chinese Universities Capacity-building Project” and an institution offering doctoral degree programs. ECJTU is now composed of 18 schools, offering a complete range of disciplines, including science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, education, and art. Meanwhile, the School is also accredited to confer 17 professional postgraduate degrees, including Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Engineering (covering 12 areas), etc., and is qualified to recommend graduates to study for master’s degree without examinations. Besides, 12 majors are nominated as national first-class majors, and 15 majors are nominated as first-class majors in the province, among which 4 undergraduate majors are granted as the National Feature Specialty, 3 listed in the National Excellent Engineers Pilot Program, and 6 approved in the International Engineering Education Certification. In the first round of comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors among  universities across the province, 16 majors have been ranked as first, 13 majors have been ranked as second, and 6 as third.

With 3 doctoral programs of the first-rank disciplines and 21 master’s programs of the first-rank disciplines, Engineering discipline enters the top 1% of ESI in the world. 3 disciplines are nominated as the First Class Discipline in Jiangxi Province of China and 4 take the lead in Jiangxi Discipline Alliance.
