Assistant Professor – Biomolecular Sciences
The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in Biomolecular Sciences (BMS) at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2021 or shortly thereafter.
We seek applications from candidates whose research interests complements the research programs of the highly collaborative faculty currently in the department.
An appropriately qualified individual may also be nominated for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair.
• Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars. Nominees should be within 10 years of receiving their highest degree.
• Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in pharmaceutical or medical sciences, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, or a related area, by the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience, or equivalent (e.g related professional experience in industry, government, health care etc.), in an area related to drug discovery and development, disease biology or diagnostic development that will build on the strengths of the Faculty is preferred.
Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to mount an independent, innovative, active, externally funded and internationally recognized research program. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellence in teaching. This candidate will be expected to contribute to the education and training of undergraduate students in our PharmD professional programs and graduate studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence that can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching portfolio including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.

About the Unit The Biomolecular Sciences (BMS) Division at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy offers a cutting-edge and transdisciplinary environment for pharmaceutical sciences research.
