Title: Post-doctoral Researcher

Job Summary:

Position provides opportunity for growth and development as an independent investigator in NIH funded research and enhance professional skills in academia. Will conduct research in neuroinflammation after stroke (both ischemic and hemorrhagic), under the purview of and directly accountable to the PI of the lab. This position will allow for a graduated level of autonomy in the hopes that the post-doc will be able to direct 2 technicians and function in an assistant PI manner by the end of the training. Standard molecular biology techniques, cloning, and flow cytometry/immunology are a must.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

*Conducts laboratory experiments related to specific project or initiative.

*Gathers, summarizes, records and interprets data obtained from research projects/initiatives.

*Plans subsequent work with review/approval of principal scientist/investigator.

*Reviews relevant literature to solve problems and contributes to manuscripts and grants.

*Develops experimental and research protocols for the laboratory.

*May instruct others in area of expertise.

*May present research results at internal and external scientific venues.

*Interprets and follows policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals/deadlines.

*Performs other duties as required or assigned for which the employee is qualified to perform

Education and Experience:

Ph.D. in biological sciences

Applicants should have experience with Flow cytometry and immunology, as well as standard molecular biology techniques. Cloning is a plus.

Track record of scholarly publication and excellent oral and written communication skills
