Position Posting Title: Head of IT Data & Analytics

Specific Responsibilities & Skills
The Head of IT Data & Analytics will report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and be responsible for overseeing functions including:
  • Data & Analytics Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap and strategy including determining future technology and assessing opportunities to drive operational efficiencies (i.e. consolidation of platforms, adoption of new technologies). Establish Governance for new metric development, initiatives, and strategies, ensure business adoption of new metrics and standards, oversee benchmarking, evaluation and implementation of best practices to business reporting/analytics capabilities, and partner to develop business solutions that enhance visualization and virtualization capabilities of transformation program metrics and processes
  • Business Partnership: Serve as point of contact to develop and deploy new metrics/KPI's and to assure business alignment and adoption of these standards and that KPI's are driving the right business performance
  • Enterprise Data Management: Lead creation, documentation, and enforcement of operating policies and procedures (i.e. data model, business glossary, master data shared domains, data cleansing and normalization), data stewardship, security constraints, and dependency rules
  • Change Management: Lead change management that ensures analytics usage that achieves business outcomes and as needed assist in acting as a gatekeeper for report/dashboard creation
  • Capability Development: Drive continuous capability improvement including continuous process improvement and benchmarking with internal and external Business to identify and implement best practices. Define/lead transformational projects to improve KPI delivery and business insights. Develop analytics solutions for deployment by global process leaders and new analytics capabilities. Ensure alignment on architecture for consistency in analysis, investigation, implementation and best practice sharing
  • Execution: Develop and execute multi-year strategy to deploy state of the art reporting & analytic capabilities using the established analytic platforms and ensure improvement of analytics maturity via comprehensive deployment of the blueprinted standards and processes
  • Performance and Reliability: Ensure reliable KPI reporting, lead the further expansion of analytic platforms, continuously drive capability improvements to turn data into business insights
  • Operational Excellence: Drive efficiencies and initiate transformational projects when needed. Successfully guide the organization through these changes while ensuring effective execution of the current processes. Assure analytic platforms are reliable and future proof and be accountable for timeliness and accuracy of KPI reporting


Essential Duties and Job Functions
General responsibilities for this position will include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Lead the company down an analytics maturity continuum from standard reporting to advanced/predictive analytics and leveraging AI/ML to yield analytics breakthroughs.
  • Understand and lead decision making using Gilead's current landscape (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, MicroStrategy, etc.)
  • Partner with Business and other leaders in providing Data & Analytics technology vision and direction for the enterprise
  • Oversee data management, enterprise data strategy, and analytics enablement
  • Establish and implement continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Oversee the collection, management, and storage of data across the company
  • Assist in analyzing and deriving insights from the data for the Business


Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required with preference in Engineering, Computer Science, Analytics, AI or equivalent/Advanced degree/MBA preferred
  • Certifications in areas of expertise desirable


Experience
  • 15 or more years in IT and business/industry
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of leadership responsibilities
  • Experience partnering with Biometrics business leaders is a plus
  • Experience successfully implementing change across multiple organizations with cross functional stakeholders required
  • Experience managing and working with a multi-regional and multi-functional team in a highly matrix environment required
  • Project and program management experience required
  • Expert experience with data (acquisition) platforms and visualization (Azure, Power BI, SAP HANA, Tableau, PowerBI, MicroStrategy) required
  • Strong financial skills required
  • Experience working in the Life Science / Pharmaceutical industry preferred
