Position Summary
Motivated candidate needed for a Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope in the laboratory of Dr. Ammar Chaudhry. Along with his research collaborators at City of Hope, Dr. Chaudhry's primary research focus is CAR T cell therapy for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).
The Postdoctoral scientist in this role will work on NIH- and commercially-funded projects with a focus on neural biology and cancers of the central nervous system and/or blood. They will work closely with the PI, graduate student(s), and other members of the laboratory to perform experiments on patient, patient-derived, stem, and/or comparative medical samples.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Cell culture and maintenance, including immune, stem, and neural cell types.
  • Working with patient and patient-derived samples.
  • Designing and performing pharmaceutical (in-vitro and in-vivo) experiments.
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to PI and team on a regular basis.
  • Maintaining meticulous electronic laboratory notebooks and study records.
  • Assisting with lab- and animal-related regulatory documents and grant progress reports.
  • Experienced in animal handling and developing in-vivo experimental design (eg. Writing/editing/making amendments to protocols).
  • Working closely with PI and other team members.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff, including PhD students.
  • Analyzing data and reporting findings in scientific presentations and publications.
  • The candidate will be encouraged/supported to seek funding for career development.


Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, biology, engineering, or fields related to Biology

Preferred education experience and skills:
  • Flow cytometry
  • Mouse models
  • MRI (preclinical and clinical)
  • Imaging-based analysesSingle cell analysis
  • Sequencing
  • Tissue processing
  • NMR
  • Experience with radiology
  • Experimental Design
