Job Title: Assistant Professor of Neuroscience

Background: The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for academic year 2021-22.

As part of a University-wide, multiyear hiring initiative designed to diversify the faculty, the department seeks applicants with expertise in Cell and Molecular Neuroscience who will participate in our Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program. As an urban-based Department of Biology dedicated to mentoring a diverse student body, many of whom come from under-represented and under-served populations, we especially encourage applications from candidates from under-represented groups. We also encourage applications from scholars committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines) and the successful pursuit of external grants. The successful candidate will be joining a department with more than 45 full-time faculty members, over 2000 undergraduate majors and minors, and a MS graduate program. Duties and Responsibilities: Faculty are expected to run a productive research laboratory, involve undergraduate and graduate students in their research, and be competitive for external funding. She or he will also teach two courses per semester supporting our new interdisciplinary Neuroscience major. Researchers in all areas of molecular, cellular, and electrophysiological neuroscience are welcome to apply.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate for this position will have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related field, postdoctoral research experience, proven excellence in research and in teaching at the college level, and must be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education focused on social justice.
