The College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks to fill a vacant position within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Search #R0123098) in the area of plant sciences or human health. The Department is currently expanding its research base and is seeking researchers whose expertise complements existing strengths in plant biochemistry and molecular biology, and human health. We are especially interested in outstanding Biochemists, Molecular Biologists, or Biotechnologists. Candidates must demonstrate the capability to develop a high-impact, nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program as well as excellence in teaching and service. There is no teaching experience requirement in year one to allow the opportunity to establish a research program.

As a member of the Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, and the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources, the candidate will have abundant opportunities to interact with existing faculty members to establish, utilize, and integrate cutting-edge approaches for research, instruction, engagement, and outreach. Candidates must also be able to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral scholars.

Required Qualifications

A PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience and expertise in the areas of protein biochemistry, protein metabolism, proteomics, protein structure and function, and metabolic regulation.  It is preferred that individuals in the area of plant sciences or human health, will have a record of research interests that complement existing departmental strengths in the plant or biomedical sciences. The position requires a minimum of two years of Postdoctoral training.

Department Information

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is one of four departments within the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources. The department has approximately 400 undergraduate students, 20 graduate students, and 17 faculty members with areas of emphasis in arthropods, human health, and plants. The department has access to modern facilities including cores for Genomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, and Imaging.
