Director, Laboratory for Specialized Clinical Studies

The Division of Infectious Diseases at Cincinnati Children’s seeks a dynamic and expert leader to direct the Laboratory for Specialized Clinical Studies.

The Laboratory for Specialized Clinical Studies (LSCS) is a clinical trials-focused laboratory that has pioneered the design and application of immune assays in support of numerous vaccine trials and epidemiologic studies. Studies include vaccine studies performed by the NIH and its Vaccine Testing and Evaluation Unit (VTEU), the Gamble Vaccine Research Program at CCHMC, and Industry and non-profit organizations. Epidemiologic studies, including large cohort studies underway for the CDC and NIH are focused on respiratory and enteric pathogens.

The Director will supervise an outstanding group of research assistants and research associates in the evaluation of human trials samples including processing and testing.

Experience in PCR, ELISA, multiplex assays, neutralization assays, and other immune assays is desirable. The Director will maintain CLIA and CAP certification of the laboratory. The ideal Director will enable innovative clinical trials designs through close interactions with multiple investigators, and will design new assays in support of clinical studies as the needs arise.

The Director is expected to have an understanding of major federal, industry, and foundation sources of funding. Skills in manuscript preparation and publication are highly desirable. This is a faculty position offered to outstanding PhD or MD candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level.

Individuals with specific research interests that overlap with the interests of the LSCS, including those working in the area of influenza biology and immunology, are encouraged to apply.
