The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine is seeking a physician-scientist neuropathologist to contribute to research and clinical programs. Junior and senior career stage candidates are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be board-certified/eligible in AP or AP/CP with fellowship training in Neuropathology and qualifications for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio. Candidates should have a robust independent neuropathology research program with attainment of NIH funding or a trajectory to obtain such funding, enabling a majority of time to be devoted to research. Modern research laboratory space and start-up packages are available. In addition, the faculty member will participate in the neuropathology service, tumor board, conferences and education of residents, fellows and medical students.
Our department has a robust neuropathology research program with 11 neuropathology research or clinical faculty and a major research focus in neurodegenerative diseases, including the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center, as well as participation in an inter-departmental brain tumor research program, the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the Brain Health Initiative. State-of-the-art IHC and molecular laboratories with Next Generation Sequencing are available in house. The NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center supports basic, translational and clinical cancer research. UHCMC is ranked as one of America’s 100 best hospitals. The Department of Pathology is in the top 10 nationally in NIH funding. UHCMC is within walking distance of world-renowned museums and cultural venues.
