in » Space Propulsion «

to begin in winter semester 2021/22. The position is a tenured W3 position.

Scientific Environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM Department of Aerospace and Geodesy and in the future also the TUM School of Engineering and Design. Furthermore, collaboration with aerospace industrial partners in the area of Munich will be pursued.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. System competence in the field of launchers and space propulsion is a pre-requisite. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Space Propulsion with experience in the sectors of non-equilibrium combustion processes and transient performance of space propulsion systems. A novel system test facility is to be developed and used for innovation in bearing arrangements, sealing concepts and rotor dynamics. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with an exceptional international research and teaching reputation and an established academic record through an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
