Position Description:

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join our team in the Edward Lau group at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (https://laulab.net). Our lab is interested in developing and applying large-scale sequencing, mass spectrometry, and computational methods towards basic cell biology processes. Potential projects include investigating the effect of environmental damage on cellular protein synthesis and degradation, identifying the role of secreted nucleic acids and proteins in extracellular communications, and developing co-culture and organoid models to dissect cellular crosstalk in disease development. The postdoctoral scholar will work with our team to design and execute experiments and data analyses using human induced pluripotent stem cell systems and large-scale omics techniques. Career training opportunities are available for the postdoctoral fellow to write grant and fellowship proposals, present research in writing and in person, and work with junior trainees.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, bioinformatics, or related fields from an accredited institution and have a minimum of 3 years of active research experience in the life sciences in an academic environment. The ideal candidate will also possess prior experiences in one or more of the following areas:

(i) experimental experiences employing next-generation sequencing and/or mass spectrometry-based proteomics approaches;

(ii) quantitative and computational data analysis skills and familiarity with common bioinformatics workflows using R and/or Python;

(iii) cell culture models including human induced pluripotent stem cell models as applied toward basic biomedical research.

The University of Colorado strongly supports the principle of diversity. We encourage applications from women, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities and all veterans. The University of Colorado is committed to diversity and equality in education and employment.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with skills and qualifications and in line with NIH stipend levels based on years of postdoctoral research experience. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility, can be found on the University website.

To Apply:

Interested applicants are encouraged to send (i) a cover letter, (ii) CV, and (iii) names and contacts of three professional references to Edward Lau, PhD at edward.lau@cuanschutz.edu. The position is immediately available and applicants will be reviewed on a continuous basis until the position is filled. The initial appointment will be for the duration of one year with guaranteed funding, with the possibility of yearly renewal based on mutual interests thereafter.
