Director, Yale Center for Research on Aging (Y-Age), Yale School of Medicine

The Department of Pathology at the Yale School of Medicine invites applications from PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent for position of Director of the Yale Center for Research on Aging (“Y-Age”).  The Director will lead a growing interdisciplinary research program in Geroscience and the Biology of Aging with significant opportunities for program growth in the stimulating and interactive Yale environment.  The research activities of Y-Age are focused on translating discoveries from research on the biology of aging into interventions to promote healthy aging, better treatment for elderly patients, and to combat common age-related diseases and pathology. The Center, housed in the Department of Pathology, has strong ties with other Yale School of Medicine Departments and Centers, including The Yale Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.

Successful candidates should have demonstrated leadership skills and an outstanding record of competitive and impactful research in the biology of aging. Areas of particular interest as they relate to aging include epigenetics, stem cells, cellular reprogramming, metabolism, cellular senescence, inflammation, proteostasis, and systems biology. The candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous, creative, externally funded research program that complements those of current faculty and builds on emerging or existing strengths. Other responsibilities will include contributions to Yale teaching and service missions and, if appropriate, clinical programs. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to fostering diversity within the Department and University.

Appointment to the faculty of the Yale School of Medicine and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will be at a rank commensurate with accomplishments and experience.
