Senior Scientist position in viral diagnostics is available in the Myhrvold and Notterman laboratories.

The Myhrvold Lab at Princeton University develops cutting-edge, CRISPR-based technologies to study RNA viral infection and RNA transcription, regulation, and localization. We are also developing CRISPR-based viral diagnostics and antiviral therapies with the aim of creating a rapid development platform for new viral diagnostics and therapies, in close collaboration with Pardis Sabeti's lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. We have applied several CRISPR-based technologies to aid in the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Princeton is testing student, faculty, and staff saliva samples at a clinical laboratory on campus. The laboratory employs approved qPCR technology and will make excess samples available for assay development and comparative analysis.

The position offers an opportunity to use the CARMEN technology, a massively multiplexed approach for nucleic acid detection, for viral surveillance on the Princeton campus, working in close collaboration with a clinical laboratory. This is a unique opportunity to help develop and use a novel technology with the potential for immediate public health benefits.

Experience with two or more of the following is a plus: CRISPR-Cas13; bioengineering; molecular biology, RNA biochemistry, nucleic acid detection, microscopy; or next-generation sequencing.

A PhD is required. This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and funding.
