ROLE SUMMARY
mRNA translational control and protein synthesis play a crucial role in cancer development and progression. We are seeking an experienced molecular and cell biologist at the senior scientist level to contribute to the success of the Oncogenes Network group in Tumor Biology Department located in La Jolla, California, to play a key role in the development of novel anti-cancer therapies.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to precision medicine projects in protein translation control in cancer. Contribute to experimental drug discovery, target identification/validation, mechanism of action studies, identification of resistance mechanisms and combinatorial therapeutic regimens for cancer treatment. Employ cutting-edge in vitro methods and animal models.

Role Responsibilities:
- Strong laboratory background to design, conduct experiments, analyze and present molecular and cell biology mechanism of action studies, resistance mechanisms and develop novel combination concepts to support Oncology pipeline.
- Collaborate with Pfizer's world-class systems biology and computational biology groups to identify novel mechanisms and targets in protein translational control in cancer
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop novel small molecule cancer therapeutics. Contribute to all stages of preclinical drug discovery and development.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Signaling or a related subject
- At least five years of cancer research experience with an emphasis in protein translational control in cancer; strong publication record or equivalent achievements in pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
Technical Skill Requirements:
- Proven ability to make important scientific contributions to protein translational control in cancer.
- Familiarity and strong expertise in methods used to understand resistance mechanisms and target identification and validation.
- Competence to stay on top of novel scientific developments and to identify quickly relevant new scientific field to make significant contributions.
- A proven high-level of technical competence and extensive experience in standard cell and molecular biology assays related to oncology are essential.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English. Proficiency in all common office and scientific software.
- Strong ability to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and diverse team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in CRISPR approach for synthetic lethality screen is a plus
