The Oncology R&D (ORD) Portfolio Sr. Manager will have a strong analytics and portfolio management background with contemporary knowledge of preclinical and clinical research within the Oncology therapeutic area and should possess broad knowledge of the WRDM organizational structure. This role will partner with senior leaders within the Portfolio and Scientific Operations group and support the Business Analytics and Portfolio Management Lead in order to effectively manage and communicate key business objectives with ORD senior leadership regarding portfolio strategy, resourcing and effective decision-making. The ORD portfolio manager must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to solve complex business objectives through iterative problem solving.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor and communicate progress against portfolio delivery within ORD
  • Measure/monitor progress against portfolio goals and help drive teams toward accelerated delivery to meet business objectives.
  • Partners with ORD Portfolio and Operations leaders to ensure operational excellence in portfolio delivery across ORD.
  • Develop dashboards and metrics to support portfolio delivery.
  • In collaboration with the Business Analytics and Portfolio Strategy Lead ensure that programs within ORD portfolio have integrated program plans that align with the overall strategic and operational plan.
  • Provide ad-hoc and regular updates to senior leaders on key project deliverables and milestones.


Manage key milestones and project objectives across the ORD portfolio (ESD-POC)
  • Develops portfolio metrics and dashboards to ensure accurate reporting of ORD project milestones and timelines.
  • Tracks and develops dashboards for key clinical milestones (FIP, ESOE, POC, etc).
  • Facilitate regular portfolio update discussions with Asset and Project Team Leads to ensure ORD leadership is well briefed with respect to timing delays for ORD programs.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of content in portfolio management tools such as Oncodash, Snapshot and IPORT.
  • Monitors milestones and operational details of the ORD therapeutic programs in partnership with ORD RPLs and PTLs to ensure the most updated project forecasts are accurately captured in source systems.
  • Interfaces with GPD project managers to ensure project plans accurately capture the most updated project strategy and timing.
  • Partner with ORD Project Team Leads and GPD project planners to provide regular updates to Pre-CS milestone forecasts to ensure ORD is working off a single authoritative playbook.


Provide support for streamlined and efficient governance processes across ORD
  • Assists with the annual Portfolio Prioritization Process (PPR) thru review and collection of key portfolio parameters (clinical update, commercial assessments, competitive intelligence) in order to provide ORD LT with key metrics associated with the ranking of the portfolio.
  • Organize biweekly Ops Comm requests to assist with review and action summary/escalation for key financial requests in support of clinical programs.
  • Streamline and support ORD governance processes (ORDB, ORD LT stage progression, ORD Ops Comm, etc).
  • Supports ORD Business Analytics and Portfolio Strategy Lead in managing the project stage gate progression meetings conducted by ORD LT.
  • Reviews and summarizes project timelines to ensure appropriate planning for governance reviews and works closely with ORDB coordinator to proactively plan for governance reviews at ORDB.


Provide key business analytics to help drive ORD portfolio delivery and resource optimization
  • Conduct routine and ad hoc business analytics for senior leaders.
  • Reviews and analyzes resourcing information (Activity Tracker) for ORD portfolio and provides regular and ad-hoc summaries to senior leadership (group heads) and ORD LT as requested.
  • May also request, review and summarize PL resourcing data in partnership with PL operations teams.
  • Develop improved resource tracking and analytics for ORD leadership.


Manage, develop and improve upon existing ORD portfolio management tools
  • Monitor and manage key content within the Oncodash portfolio management tool.
  • May provide training to broader ORD leaders and colleagues on key portfolio management tools (Oncodash, Activity Tracker, IPORT, etc).
  • Recommend and implement new processes, approaches, or tools in support of ORD portfolio reporting.
  • Develop and Implement new processes to streamline portfolio delivery and governance.


Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years' research or clinical experience with a BS degree
  • Life sciences, pharmacy graduate or equivalent preferred. Advanced academic qualifications/degree an advantage but not essential.
  • Knowledge of overall drug discovery and development processes
  • Hand's on experience in business analytics and data visualization tools
  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills with proven ability to solve complex problems through iterative analysis
  • Advanced experience with data querying tools and systems


Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of research or clinical experience with a MS degree
  • Life sciences, pharmacy graduate or equivalent preferred. Advanced academic qualifications/degree an advantage but not essential.
  • Internal knowledge of Pfizer processes, systems and organization considered a plus
