SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Coordinator, Research Data position is to perform basic level-specific activities related to research projects and studies, requiring judgment, initiative, and independent decision making.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Research Data Collection activities

Responsible for collection of data from sites. Maintains contact with other institutions participating in studies and coordinates data collection, and assists with development of outcome and tracking data management systems. Extracts data from electronic health records and assists in the collection of missing and delinquent data from study participants.

Enter participant data in the database and perform basic data management tasks; register participant in institutional database. Extensive use with Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word, research programs such as Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap), and clinical programs such as OneConnect/EPIC.

Research Recruitment activities

Assist Principal Investigator and other staff in study procedures, including but not limited to: screening participants, recruiting and consenting study participants, mailing reminder letters and making reminder calls, preparing study materials for study visits, collecting data from participants during in-person meetings and telephone interviews, administering questionnaires, data entry, processing and analysis and assist Principal Investigator and other staff with other related tasks as needed/requested.

Assists in the procurement of tissue and related data for clinical research protocol. Collects or obtains research samples including blood, urine, and/ or tissue biopsies using routine phlebotomy procedures or other techniques. Processes research samples according to the standard operating procedures. Packages biologic samples and coordinates shipment with courier services.

Research Administrative activities

Search and review literature in pertinent areas preparing written reports as necessary. Photocopy, organize, and maintain journal articles.

Maintain and update research consortium website contents.

Other duties as assigned

High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred degree: Bachelor's degree Two years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.
