ROLE SUMMARY

The Parenteral Center of Excellence (PCoE) Portfolio Ops Project Manager is a key part of the PCoE Portfolio Team responsible for providing PCoE portfolio analytics, project resourcing analytics, project indirect spend, and project scheduling:
  • Interface between GPD Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) Project Planners, Portfolio Directors, and other organizational partners to insure PCoE Pharmaceutical Science (PS) project plans and resourcing factors are accurately reflected in our Enterprise Portfolio Management Systems.
  • Provide the tools and analytics to help the PCoE LT and management team drive optimal utilization of PCoE resources.
  • Develop, implement, or utilize existing portfolio tools to ensure that the status of the PCoE portfolio is clearly represented for all levels of the organization (risks and milestone tracking).
  • Provide accurate and timely communication of portfolio events & progress updates to inform decision making.
  • Provide monthly updates on portfolio accomplishments and status.
  • Support op planning efforts by insuring data integrity, creating consolidated representations of the data, and preparing presentations to op planning.
  • Assist PSTLs in executing projects by driving project schedule templates and assisting in timeline development.


Data Analysis, Tools, and Reporting
  • Conducts necessary reporting and analytics needed to support the regular reviews of project level indirect forecasts with PSTLs, PharmSci Line Resource Leaders, and Finance to ensure high-data quality and completeness of forecast data needed for PharmSci resource reviews, budget and Operating Plan processes.
  • Utilizes data analytics and reporting tools including Business Objects, Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables), OnePager, and Spotfire to quantify and explain project level forecasts, changes over time, deltas between scenarios, and inform decisions by PSTL, Finance, manager, and/or Category Leaders.
  • Conduct necessary reporting and analytics to characterize indirect line demand verses capacity in a variety of formants suitable for sharing with multiple levels of the organization.
  • Lead development of analytics necessary to support continued resource algorithm improvements, HCE factor adjustments, and project resource multipliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement into our long-term resource and project forecasting.
  • Provide custom reports for ad-hoc data queries in support of portfolio management.
  • Aggregate data for monthly reporting including accomplishments and portfolio development status.


Project Execution and Delivery
  • As a member of the PharmSci Project Team, the Project Manager will work with team members (e.g., PSTL / Co-Development Lead, GPD Planner, PharmSci project team members, Supply Chain Lead) to manage the project and achieve key milestones according to the endorsed timeline, cost, and technical development strategy.
  • Participates in assigned Project Team meetings and supports the PSTL with overall management of the project team (as requested by and agreed with PSTL).
  • Monitors and tracks status of purchase orders to ensure alignment with Project Plan and Finance forecasts, including monthly accruals of costs.
  • Contributes to risk management through the identification of scheduling conflicts with project milestones, PharmSci workflow inter-dependencies, and/ or budgetary risks to the project.


Process Improvement
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of project planning templates and methods and/or reporting and analytics practices within the Portfolio Operations and Project Management Team.
  • Participates and contributes to assigned Resource Planning (RAPID) governance teams, committees, or Limited Duration Teams to represent PharmSci perspective and needs within the broader WRDM and GPD planning community.


Team Development
  • Leverages scientific and technical education and experience to support the development and understanding of pharmaceutical / CMC development principles within the Portfolio Operations and Project Management Team


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the disciplines related to drug development or engineering required. Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MS) highly desirable.
  • Basic understanding of project management skills and product development.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an affinity toward project management.
  • 2 years of experience in developing drug delivery devices, combination products and/or pharmaceuticals.
  • Previous experience and strong capabilities in data analytics, data tools, and Excel.
  • Ability to define and develop new data analysis tools to meet portfolio needs.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams as well as working independently in ambiguous situations/assignments, gathering input from colleagues and management to address issues.
  • Technical abilities should include a sound knowledge of the drug and medical device development process.
  • Familiarity with planning, scheduling, and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiating skills.
  • High awareness of personal limits and a willingness to proactively consult others to ensure quality of judgement
  • Travel, typically, less than 10%.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • The combination of strong pharmaceutical and medical device development experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques (such as developing integrated project plans, critical path management, project change control, project risk management, and decision analysis).
  • Track record for delivery against challenging goals.
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced, challenging and complex environment.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The successful candidate will be capable of independent problem solving and working with minimal direction under most circumstances.
  • The successful candidate will also possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills are required.
