Job Details

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The primary purpose of the Radiological Physics Technician I position is to provide semi-professional service in radiological physics involving a high degree of responsibility in the application of one of the specialized phases of radiological physics procedures such as those involving radioactive isotopes, external beam treatments, and radiation protection.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

OSLD/TLD Reading Process: Read OSLD/TLD and enter sessions into RADS database.

Bleach OSLD and file depth dose tables which includes confirming through reading of the OSLD, that the bleaching process has been successful.

OSLD/TLD Sessions Check Process: Check OSLD/TLD sessions in preparation for a physicist's review.

Standards and Controls: Weekly irradiation of OSLD/TLD Standards and Controls. The entire monitoring process depends on these weekly irradiations.

Communication with Participating Institutions: Communicate with clinical personnel at participating institutions in the IROC-Houston QA Center's audit program via phone or email.

Shipping and Receiving of Equipment: Ship and receive equipment for remote monitoring of radiotherapy machines which includes: packing of equipment; production of shipping labels documentation for customs agencies (many shipments are international); documenting activities and flow of equipment in custom software (RADS); and communicating with IROC-Houston QA Center physicists and clinical customers as needed.

Education
Required
: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
Required
: Two years of research, laboratory or related experience.
