Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Biochemistry

The Departments of Microbiology and Chemistry invite applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, commencing July 1, 2021, or on a date mutually agreed upon.

Responsibilities :

Duties will include undergraduate teaching, graduate teaching and supervision, research, including the establishment of an externally funded research program, and service-related activities. The successful candidate will have a track record of high quality scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications; will either have, or demonstrate the potential to establish, an independent, innovative, scholarly, externally fundable research program; will have demonstrated strength in or strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions; and will exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications :

The Departments seek an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Exceptional candidates at any level will also be considered. Outstanding candidates in any area of Biochemistry will be considered, with particular emphasis on candidates who will complement or extend the departments' strengths in Structural Biology particularly in cryo-Electron Microscopy. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and preferably post-doctoral experience or other distinguishing attributes in Biochemistry or a related field. Additional Information :

The Departments currently have 35 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 10 Instructors, and offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, and Chemistry. The Departments have well-established and equipped research facilities, including a cryo-3D TEM (TALOSF200C) equipped with a Direct Electron Detector (Flacon3EC), Rigaku Micromax007 HFM with R-AXIS IV++ detector, 4 high-field NMR spectrometers, cell culture facilities, confocal fluorescence microscopes and a full suite of protein characterization tools (e.g. AUC, calorimetry, SEC-MALS etc.) and are supported by strong research links with other University of Manitoba departments and the Manitoba Institute of Materials, the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, the Price Faculty of Engineering and the National Microbiology Laboratory.
