What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be responsible for supporting the development and characterization of molecular Assays for vaccine research initiatives. You will perform various molecular biology processing of preparing samples for testing. You will also assist with molecular and . Your skills and expertise will ensure that all work is to be done in a compliant manner according to relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) .

Your significant experience of applying knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of the discipline will make you a critical member of the team. You are proactive in contributing to all team discussions and creating an environment of collaboration.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Contribute to achievement of immediate work group goals working efficiently as part of a team in a matrixed environment.
  • Execute experiments to develop and characterize molecular assays to support vaccine research initiatives.
  • Execute planned experiments based on protocols provided or available in published literature.
  • Manage manual and robotic sample preparation, use and maintenance of appropriate equipment, and preparation of relevant reagents.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask project objectives, understanding goals and their priorities as well as demonstrating problem solving skills in the planning and execution of experiments.
  • Interpret and summarize experimental data.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new methods or technologies.
  • Develop and follow standard operating procedures
  • Preparation of research findings in reports or for presentation as well as documentation of all work in electronic notebook
  • Presents research findings in lab, group, team and departmental meetings/forums as appropriate


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant field (Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology)
  • BS 4 years relevant experience, or MS with at least 2 years experience. Work experience in an industrial setting is a plus.
  • Experience working with nucleic acids including extraction from biological specimens, molecular cloning, in vitro transcription, PCR and sequence determination.
  • Ability to use appropriate software to perform analysis of data and the interpretation of results
  • Ability to work independently and must be motivated, flexible and willing to learn new skill sets.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software, including graphing/statistical analysis tools.


Nice-to-Have

  • Familiarity with laboratory automation.
  • Basic laboratory skills in the area of quantitative-PCR
  • Experience with database systems such as LIMS


Sitting, Standing, Repetitive procedures, light lifting, ability to perform mathematical calculation and moderately complex data analysis.
