ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer's Centers for Therapeutic Innovation (CTI) is a pioneering research unit that partners with leading academic medical centers and disease foundations to translate novel breakthroughs into therapies that change patients' lives. CTI laboratories in Manhattan and San Francisco are assembling a cross-disciplinary team to explore the underlying tenets of disease biology in the integrated space of DNA damage response pathways, chromatin biology, cancer drug tolerance, heterogeneity and immunology/inflammation. This is a unique opportunity for a driven, exceptional, experienced BS/MS scientist to leverage their expertise and develop their scientific acumen and drug discovery skills while collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams at Pfizer and academic subject-matter experts.

Successful candidates will work collaboratively with biology teams, portfolio project teams, senior scientists, and post docs to further our understanding of chromatin biology, DNA damage response, cancer drug tolerance, heterogeneity, innate immunity and other areas of emerging science.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate scientific and technical expertise harnessed to advance our understanding in the fields of heterogeneous drug responses (chemotherapy and targeted agents), chromatin biology and/or innate immunity.
  • Develop assays and analyze datasets in order to ultimately contribute to the delivery of novel, life-changing therapies for patients.
  • Contribute to the design and testing of biological hypotheses, while also leveraging the breadth of expertise available from colleagues and subject matter experts across Pfizer and the external academic collaborative network in collaboration with senior scientists and postdocs in the group.
  • With limited supervision, conduct targeted in vitro experiments.
  • Generate, organize, analyze, interpret data.
  • Effectively communicate results at team meetings.
  • Contribute to a culture that embraces scientific excellence, effectiveness, and team-work.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences with 6+ years', or Master of Science with 4+ years', relevant post graduate experience at minimum.
  • Extensive experience with tissue culture.
  • Experience with molecular and cell biological techniques in: genome editing, protein and chromatin biochemistry, chromatin immunoprecipitations and other assays that assess chromatin states, multi-color flow cytometry, mass spectrometry analysis, bioinformatics analysis or in vivo models for oncology and other therapeutic areas.
  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills, and the motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to learn new concepts and techniques.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of molecular and cell biology, cancer biology, epigenetics and chromatin biology, immuno-oncology, immunology, or a related field is preferred.
