The Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an outstanding and visionary leader in translational lung cancer research to serve as the Director of the Lung Cancer Center of Excellence (COE).

The successful candidate will continue their own independent research in the field of lung cancer and/or thoracic malignancies, while facilitating interdisciplinary team science - through regular meetings, pilot projects, multi-investigator grants - amongst basic/ translational scientists and clinical investigators, both within and external to the Department of Thoracic Oncology and the five Moffitt Research Programs (Cancer Biology & Evolution; Cancer Epidemiology; Molecular Medicine; Health Outcomes & Behavior; Immuno-Oncology).   The Director will leverage existing strengths in Precision Medicine, Immune Therapy, Prevention & Early Detection, and Health Care Delivery.  In addition, it is anticipated that the Director will work closely with the Moffitt Foundation to procure philanthropic funding for various projects, and ultimately lead the development of new multi-PI team science grants, capitalizing on a significant extramural funding base, strong clinical trials, molecular genomics & diagnostics, cell therapies infrastructure, large patient volumes, and dedicated faculty across multiple basic and population science departments. The Director will also provide primary or secondary mentorship to the junior faculty within the Center of Excellence.

The position will be supported by; 1) generous start-up package; 2) access to existing COE funds to stimulate new areas of research; 3) opportunity to collaborate regarding faculty/staff recruitment.

Requirements

Ideal applicants will possess an M.D. degree, or M.D./Ph.D. degree, however PhD candidates with strong background in translational science will be considered.  Candidates should have strong track record in Thoracic Oncology, be at Associate or Professor Level status, have strong history of NIH or equivalent funding, and evidence of building multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring.
