Open first call for applications – SASPRO 2 Academic Mobility Programme

SASPRO 2 is Mobility Programme based at Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) and its partners Comenius University in Bratislava (CU) and Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), Slovakia. The Programme is co-funded by the Marie Curie Co-funding of Regional, National and International Programmes 2019 (COFUND) under project Horizon 2020 of the European Commission.

SASPRO 2 Programme offer approximately 40 positions within 70 potential host institutions covering various research areas and topics. The Programme allows researcher to apply for a fellowship from 12 to 36 months. Place of full-time employment is in Slovak Republic.

Host organisations for fellows are the scientific organisations of SAS, CU and STU.

Eligibility criteria

Calls are open to researchers of any nationalities who are in possession of PhD. degree (considered according to ERC policy about PhD. and equivalent doctoral degree) who are interested in working in the scientific organisation of SAS, CU and STU. Eligible are experienced researchers up to 15 years after obtaining their first PhD. or equivalent degree. Researchers that are already permanently employed by the entity where the research training activities take place and that is recruiting them may not be supported.

Programme is divided into two mobility schemes, which are aimed at different target groups:

Incoming scheme - is dedicated for researchers who have not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the Slovak Republic for more than 12 months in the last 3 years prior to the application submission.

Reintegration scheme - is dedicated for Slovak nationals who have carried out their main activity in the Third countries at least 3 years prior to the application submission and who have resided or carried out their main activity in the Slovak Republic for maximum 3 months prior to the application submission.

Selection Process

Two-step evaluation process:
1. step - assessment of compliance with eligibility criteria and fulfilment of formal and technical requirements;

2. step - Independent evaluators and Evaluation Committees assess the applications. Interview with applicants is a part of this step.

Programme shall enable the fellows to perform the secondment in organisation from applied science field within their fellowship - if a character of project topic allows it. Training focused on career development tools for fellows shall be provided by participating organisations and opportunities provided by secondment partners shall guarantee that the individual projects will be realised in the motivating environment and within the research teams/departments/organisations which are nationally and internationally recognized and well established in the European research community.

CU is the oldest and largest university in Slovakia with 13 faculties with currently more than 22000 students. CU offers study programmes in wide spectrum of disciplines ranging from art and humanities (including theology), through law, economics and social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, information sciences to medicine. CU is an important research institution, which participates in top-level research in a number of scientific disciplines. Modern research infrastructure is available at CU, different laboratories and research centres. Currently largest infrastructure is the Science Park that includes technology transfer office and business incubators. Sciences Park focuses on the commercial application of research and development in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, environmental medicine and social challenges.

STU is a modern educational and scientific institution providing education mainly in chemical technologies, computer and technical sciences, construction, architecture and material technology.  In average 12000 students study at STU every year at all three levels of study, it has 7 faculties based in Bratislava and Trnava. Its international cooperation is based on interactive contact with educational as well as scientific-research institutions of the countries all over the world. First of all, it is focused on solution of the joint projects within the EU framework and other international programmes, mobility of students, teaching staff and researchers.
