The Senior Innovation Scientist supports US R&D through building and maintaining a robust Innovation pipeline across the Advil and Local Star portfolio. This role will focus on filling the Innovation funnel with consumer relevant, scientifically differentiated products. This role will also be crucial to prioritizing resources (human and financial) deployed to evaluating new technologies and advancing pipeline programs.

Key Responsibilities

Execution Powerhouse

  • Supports the screening and evaluation of external technologies and/or product opportunities for potential fit to GSK brands.
  • Determines resource and budget requirements for internal cross-functional evaluations of opportunities
  • Supports US Whitespace Lead to identify opportunities to increase the efficiency of opportunity evaluation including accelerating hits and failing fast on misses
  • Collaborates with Innovation Operations team to determine rough ROIs of new opportunities and help frame project prioritization discussions

  • Maintains awareness of consumer and competitor trends driving industry growth
  • Highlights own training needs and working with manager develop a training plan and achieve training goals.
  • Build relationships within cross-functional partners to deliver innovation programs


Consumer and Customer-Obsessed

  • Collaborate with Consumer Understanding team to define the level of consumer testing required to ensure concept expectations are met
  • Collaborates with External Innovation to understand current opportunities being searched and their underlying consumer drivers

  • Builds and maintains dashboard to evaluate departmental resource allocation to ensure they align with innovation priorities

Why you?

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional or related science
  • Experienced with successful formulation and/or product development
  • Experienced with applying scientific principles and techniques to assigned projects
  • Demonstrated ability to connect consumer needs to product development
  • Knowledge and experience of R&D development processes and associated commercial environment
  • An ability to organise and report study data from internal and external sources
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of statistics and its application to experimental work


Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or Ph.D. degree, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional or related science
  • Flair for creativity and innovation
  • Clear communicator in both oral and written form with both internal departments and external organisations.
  • Demonstrates ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work effectively in teams, and multitask.
