Faculty Position in Cancer Research

The Houston Methodist Cancer Center (HMCC) and Houston Methodist Academic Institute (HMAI) are soliciting applications for full-time faculty members at the Assistant, Associate, or Full member levels (equivalent to Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). Candidates must have an MD, PhD or MD/PhD degree with established expertise in a targeted field of research, a track record of sustained and ongoing extramurally funded research, and an outstanding record of collaborative cancer research-related activities and high-impact publications.  Applicants with current NCI R01, or R01 Equivalent level funding, are preferred and will be prioritized by the search committee.

Successful applicants will join a highly interactive institution that is committed to bridging basic discovery to clinical application through collaboration, with an emphasis of researchers focused on Breast, Lung, Gynecological, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, and/or Hematologic malignancies. We are especially interested in clinicians and basic researchers that will enhance the strength of our three established research programs:

  1. Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapeutics: Monoclonal Antibodies, Immunosuppression, CAR-T Cell, Tumor Metastasis, and Tumor Microenvironment Research
  2. Innovative Therapeutics: Medicinal Chemistry, Small Molecule Development, Drug Formulation, and Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics Research
  3. Cancer Prevention and Control: Epidemiology, Biomarkers, and Outcomes Research.

The Houston Methodist is ranked the No 1. Hospital in Texas and nationally-ranked in eleven adult specialties per U.S. News and World Report, 2020; the Houston Methodist Cancer Center (HMCC) noted for its distinction in clinical care, research, and academics ranked No. 17 Nationally by U.S. News and World Report, 2020.  HMCC consists of 60,000 square feet of clinical facilities dedicated for the comprehensive management and care of cancer patients across seven locations with dedicated free-standing research space available in the Texas Medical Center.

Faculty members will benefit from highly collaborative research environment, state of the art research building, infrastructure, and core services, including flow cytometry, cellular and tissue microscopy, biostatistics and biomedical informatics, and research pathology and biobanking; these research facilities are housed adjacent to multi-disciplinary inpatient and outpatient cancer related clinical areas providing the opportunity for translational research. HMCC has a comprehensive Clinical Trials Office that provides administrative, regulatory, and nursing support for the clinical trials conducted at HMCC.  Faculty Members will be appointed to the Academic Institute, with a potential appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College upon additional approval.
