BioMedicine Design's Endogenous Antibody Discovery Group is seeking a Senior Scientist to drive therapeutic antibody discovery campaigns. The candidate will be primarily responsible for designing and implementing strategies to thoroughly interrogate antibody repertoires to select lead antibody candidates from immunized rodents.

The successful candidate will leverage hybridoma technology in a high-throughput environment, microfluidics-based plasma and memory B cell selections, and NGS-based paired and single chain repertoire analysis to identify and deliver panels of lead molecules to therapeutic teams. The role also requires identification and application of new technologies and workflows to support our ongoing commitment to enhance and streamline the therapeutic antibody discovery process.

The candidate will work in close coordination with BioMedicine Design's High Throughput Assay Screening group in lead identification. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in some of the following areas:
  • Biotherapeutic lead selection with cell-based methods including Hybridoma generation
  • Design of immunization strategies to elicit diverse panels of antibodies
  • Evaluation of immune titers by ELISA and flow cytometry
  • VH-VL molecular cloning of antibodies
  • Experience with antibody discovery from single primary B cells, including familiarity with microfluidics-based methods for selecting antigen-specific B cells
  • B cell repertoire analysis using Next Generation Sequencing
  • Use of integrated lab automation
  • Experience with yeast display


1) Design and implementation of immunization strategies to elicit diverse panels of antibodies for biotherapeutic development

2) Evaluation of immune responses by protein and cell-based methods

3) Generation of antibodies using hybridoma technology

4) Work with tissue culture automation

5) VH-VL molecular cloning and expression of antibodies from hybridomas and B cells

6) Application of microfluidics-based selections of antigen-specific B cells

7) Application of NGS-based methods to analyze B cell repertoires and to optimize lead antibody candidates

8) Preparation and delivery of detailed presentations and reports, both written and verbal, to project teams

9) Effective communication and coordination of work in highly matrixed project team environment

  • PhD in Immunology or Molecular Biology specifically with experience in B cell biology.
  • Experience with Biotherapeutic lead generation through cell-based methods, including hybridoma and single B cell platforms and yeast display.
  • Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis

  • Experience with B cell repertoire analysis using Next Generation Sequencing strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the development of novel antibody discovery platforms preferred, including microfluidics-based platforms.
  • Experience with integrated laboratory automation desirable.
