We are looking for
Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is recruiting a full professor to lead the Chair group of Cell Biology and Immunology (CBI).
As head of the CBI group, you will lead a vibrant team of researchers and lecturers. You will support our group's research ambitions by further strengthening its position in national and international networks, by consolidating established research lines as well as developing new lines of research. You will actively contribute to the excellent reputation and position of WUR in higher education through your active role in our current education programme and in the ongoing development of courses at BSc, MSc and PhD level.
You will provide an encouraging working and learning environment for academics at different career stages. Strengthening the acquisition of external funding for research and recruiting the best new people at all levels are key elements of the chair holder’s responsibility. You will further enhance the group’s successes in generating scientific and societal impact.
You will lead our group in the further development of an internationally competitive research profile in which you embed your own lines of research that are synergistic and complementary to CBI's current research topics. We particularly welcome an innovative and inspiring research leader with a strong research emphasis on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying immune responsiveness in health and disease. The mission of CBI is to integrate and generate fundamental knowledge on the immune system of animals and humans.

- A PhD in immunology and/or cell biology;
- An internationally recognized research line focusing on cellular, molecular and biochemical mechanisms, reflected in a publication record in top-tier journals;
- Expertise in human and/or mammalian immunology and/or cell biology;
- A track record in project acquisition and coordination;
- An international network in academia and industry and affinity for collaboration with these parties;
- Ambition to connect complementary disciplines within the CBI group, within Wageningen University & Research and (inter)nationally;
- Excellent skills in writing, communication and presenting.

The Appointment Advisory Committee will interview selected candidates before February 2021. The Committee will thereafter invite short-listed candidates for a second interview and a public lecture before April 2021

The CBI group collaborates with other groups focusing on various aspects of animal and human biology and physiology. The chair contributes to the Global One Health Initiative and is part of the newly established collaborative Gerrit Grijns Initiative that connects the chair to groups in food and nutritional sciences.
CBI consists of 4 tenured and scientific staff members, 3 lecturers, 3 technicians, 11 PhD students, 1 personal professor and 1 endowed professor. Additional scientific staff can be appointed.
