Associate Director Marketing & Operations COVID-19

ACE Region 1 - Cluster 2: Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Australia & New Zealand

This role could be located in any of the above countries

The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Marketeer to join the cross-functional team for COVID-19 as the Associate Director, Marketing & Operations. Depending on the level of experience of the candidate it will also be considered to offer the role as Director.

The focus of the role will be on the newly approved antiviral medicine and its use against COVID-19. The role is responsible for the strategic commercial planning and tactical delivery of the commercial plan for a defined cluster of countries in Region 1. This requires close national and international collaboration with colleagues from the extended cross-functional team. The role is office-based and requires national and international travel to the cluster of countries (including internal meetings and external scientific conferences) once travel restrictions are eased. The candidate can be based in one of the markets of the ACE Region 1 countries. The position reports to the General Manager of the hosting location the candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and directly drives execution of commercial strategy for antiviral medicines against COVID-19 infection in defined cluster of countries
  • Plan, establish and continuously adapt necessary commercial materials for antiviral medicines individual country needs and priorities, including E-channel
  • Ensures optimal allocation of marketing resources and diligently manages budget.
  • Ensures all marketing activities comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates demand forecasting in close collaboration with country supply management and commercial operations with a highly agile attitude due to high unpredictability
  • In close collaboration with Business Analytics, generates relevant market insights, establishes the necessary analytical tools to monitor the markets and measure our KPIs in each country
  • Closely and seamlessly collaborates with the other customer-facing functions, mainly medical project manager for the defined cluster and country Product Managers, Business Unit Directors and Field Staff
  • Early planning & preparation for potential line extensions
  • Establishes direct contact to selected key customers within the different countries in close coordination with local country teams to get a precise understanding of customer needs, opportunities & barriers
  • Collect, process and disseminate commercial tactic best practices across local markets and the wider ACE region, participate in working sessions and discussions, and lead regional forums to share practices and coordinate the execution of the global strategy

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

We're seeking a strategic, experienced marketing expert with:

  • B.A. or B.S. required, MBA and/or advanced degree in life sciences or medical degree is a plus
  • Pharmaceutical company experience with product management / brand management and launch experience in a country position, of which preferably also in the area of viral diseases, respiratory diseases and/or intensive care
  • Field Experience as a sales representative and/or sales manager is a plus
  • Proven track record in delivering on operational commitments in local market(s)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences and executives
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong facilitation and counseling skills, particularly with individuals from diverse work cultures
  • Ability to navigate complex formal and informal network and hierarchy
  • High agility & ability to work in dynamic environment of ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and prioritization
  • Ability to embrace Gilead's patient-centric values, including highest ethical and compliance standards
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
