Research Molecular Biologist (Plants) Plant Gene Expression Center Albany, CA The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Plant Gene Expression Center (PGEC) in Albany, California invites applications for a permanent, full time Research Scientist, GS-401-12/13.
The successful candidate will have expertise in plant molecular biology and will be responsible for developing an independent research program in speed breeding to accelerate breeding in woody horticultural crops using cutting-edge experimental and computational approaches, such as next generation sequencing, comparative genomics and gene editing. The incumbent will identify novel genetic mechanisms that operate across woody horticultural crops to control the transition to flowering. Ongoing research at the PGEC concerns genetic, molecular, and computational analysis of plant-microbe interactions, circadian rhythms, light signaling, and development. PGEC research is conducted through a close collaborative partnership with the University of California, Berkeley. The salary range is $93,587 to $144,676 per year.
