Department of Internal Medicine: Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine
We seek postdoctoral candidate with an interest in pulmonary vascular signaling, cell biology, and cell metabolism to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of pulmonary vascular remodeling as it relates to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) with specific focus on growth suppressor proteins and cellular metabolism. The successful applicant should have expertise in cellular and molecular biology techniques (i.e. western blotting, cell transfections/ infections, proliferation and apoptosis assays). Expertise in cellular metabolism, cell culture techniques and small animal (rats and mice) models of pulmonary hypertension is appreciated.
To be considered for the position, please send in a detailed CV with methodological expertise, a list of scientific publications, and the contact details of three referees to firstname.lastname@example.org. Salary will be according to NIH scale and commensurate with experience. Position available immediately.
Goncharova lab research interests have focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). We use molecular and cellular techniques, human tissues and cells, transgenic mice, and rodent models of pulmonary hypertension to dissect new molecular signaling hubs driving hyper-proliferation of resident pulmonary vascular cells, pulmonary vascular remodeling and PAH and to identify and pre-clinically validate novel molecular target pathways for therapeutic intervention. Ongoing projects are focused on the role of mTOR and HIPPO signaling networks in pulmonary vascular cell remodeling and right ventricular dysfunction in pulmonary arterial hypertension; the role of GATA6 transcriptional factor as a regulator of pulmonary vascular cell-cell communications, BMP signaling and inflammation in PAH; and role of lipid metabolism in pulmonary vascular remodeling.
