We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Tracy McGaha’s laboratory in The Immunotherapy Program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Research Institute in Toronto. Our laboratory is interested in the mechanisms of tumour-induced immune dysfunction, examining molecular pathways that regulate cell–driven immune tolerance in health and disease.

The position is part of an NIH-funded project examining mechanistic links between the tumor immune microenvironment, the microbiome, and clinical outcomes in pancreatic cancer. The project is highly translational in nature and will incorporate data and tissue collected from clinical trials, animal modeling, and cutting-edge technology to investigate microbial metabolite-driven immune deviation and intratumoral innate-immune function.

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is a top five cancer centre world-wide, and the largest cancer hospital in Canada. We are home to world-class basic and clinical science with state-of-the-art core facilities in systems biologics, imaging, and genomics. Working closely with a group of scientists and clinicians from The University of Toronto and the downtown research hospitals in the Toronto research hub, the McGaha Laboratory provides broad training and a highly collaborative environment for basic and translational cancer immunology.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research using human tissue/cells and tumour models
  • Perform experiments, validate data and analyze results
  • Maintain data and information records
  • Present data at laboratory and departmental meetings
  • Write scientific papers

Qualifications / Required Skills

  • Recent PhD degree (less than 2 years) in molecular biology, cancer biology, genomics, or immunology
  • A background in immunology is requisite and experience in tumor immunology is preferable
  • Proficiency in working with mouse models of solid tumors
  • Experience in bioinformatics analysis or R program is an asset
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data analysis software (e.g. GraphPad Prism, FlowJo)
  • Knowledge of spatial transcriptomics and imaging mass cytometry is desirable
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team (Excellent organizational and communication skills)
