The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota invites applications to fill multiple tenured and tenure-track faculty. Our current areas of research strength include cancer biology and therapeutics, immunology and infectious disease, neuropharmacology and addiction, and signal transduction. As we look to a sustained period of growth under new departmental leadership, we intend to build on these areas of strength while enhancing other domains including structural and computational biology, OMICs sciences, and drug discovery. Required applicant qualifications include a PhD in the biomedical sciences or an MD degree, and relevant postdoctoral training. Applicants for tenure-track Assistant Professor positions must have a strong publication record, and success in competing for research funding is also desirable. Applicants for tenured Associate Professor or Professor positions must have a record of sustained funding and high-impact research publications, a commitment to collaborative research and mentorship, and solid teaching credentials.

The Department of Pharmacology is a vibrant community located on the beautiful Minneapolis/St. Paul (“Twin Cities”) campus of the University of Minnesota. We strive to cultivate an inclusive community that leverages the diverse backgrounds of our members to achieve excellence in research, education, and service. As such, we strongly encourage applications from women and other members of underrepresented groups in science and medicine. Our current faculty direct research programs supported by $15+ million in annual external funding, supported by a world-class Academic Health Center and institutional partners including the Masonic Cancer Center, Center for Immunology, Medical Discovery Team on Addiction, Institute for Therapeutics Discovery and Development, and Institute for Translational Neuroscience. We direct a popular undergraduate minor program and are the administrative home for the Graduate Program in Pharmacology, a cross-departmental training community of 70+ faculty trainers, 50+ graduate students, and an engaged alumni network. We also take pride in making meaningful service contributions to the institution and people of Minnesota while serving as critical resources of scientific expertise at national and international levels.
