NMR Facility Manager (Senior/Principal Systems Specialist)

Description
We are seeking a facility manager to join the bioNMR group in the Structural Biology Department. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative research environment focused on the discovery of small molecule drug candidates with high impact therapeutic potential. Primary responsibilities for this role include: experimental design for complex NMR projects including implementation and troubleshooting of new pulse sequences to support drug discovery programs, NMR data collection, maintenance and operation of the NMR instrumentation, maintenance and development of the robotic systems in the NMR lab, and periodic maintenance of other structural biology instruments such as crystallization and imaging robotics.  Our state-of-the-art NMR facility includes dedicated 800, 600 and 500 MHz spectrometers equipped with cryoprobes and sample changers, Linux workstations, and robotic systems for preparation of NMR samples.

Who You Are
The successful candidate will have most of the following characteristics:  

  • PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology or related field
  • Five years or more of experience in the field of protein NMR
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating and managing high field NMR spectrometers
  • Ability to independently implement and troubleshoot NMR experiments to characterize structure and dynamics of proteins and protein-ligand interactions. • Familiarity with Linux systems and data management.
  • Experience with liquid handling and imaging robotics related to protein crystallization is desirable but not required.

The successful candidate will be collaborative, highly organized, work independently to solve challenging problems and have strong communication skills. Highly motivated candidates with a passion for science and technology development are encouraged to apply.
