Announcement: Faculty Position Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level. Applications will be considered from individuals with research interests and backgrounds in any area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Department has outstanding research programs in the areas of gene expression, cellular biochemistry, macromolecular structure & function, neurosciences, cancer and viral biology, and data sciences. This position is part of a plan to broaden departmental expertise in any of these areas.
The successful hire at the Associate level is expected to demonstrate evidence of an internationally recognized externally-funded research program with a biochemistry focus. A hire at the Assistant level is expected to develop/maintain such a research program. Either level will participate in undergraduate and graduate education, and provide service through Departmental, College, and University committees, as well as external service to the profession. The position requires a firm commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and have post-doctoral training in appropriate fields. Candidates should have a strong record of publications and provide evidence of expertise in the broad areas defined above, as demonstrated in part by submission of a research plan describing future projects that will be competitive for external funding.
The position is a nine-month, tenure-track, academic appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Funds are available to provide an appropriate start-up package. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2021.
